City of Montgomery – Meta Partner To Build $840 Million Data Center

Congratulations to Mayor Steven Reed, Governor Kay Ivey, Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair and the entire team on the details around the recent announcement of a partnership with Meta Platforms, Inc in their efforts towards the construction and operation of an $840 Million Data Center in the City/County of Montgomery, AL.

A few of the details about the is project that have been made public include

  • Project includes Meta’s new 715,000-square-foot, AI-optimized data center
  • Once operational, the facility will be LEED Gold certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and will be supported by 100% renewable energy and reach net zero emissions
  • Facility is expected to go online at the end of year 2026
  • More than 1,000 construction workers are expected to be on site at its peak
  • Data center will also bring 100 higher waged jobs to the City of Montgomery
